Another Pleasant Valley Sunday

And yes, it be Sunday again!

Today I’d like to discuss guilty pleasures.

I always thought I didn’t really have one, but I do.

I absolutely ADORE this website TomandLorenzo.com. It’s a blog written by a gay married couple, who post approximately six blogs a day (impressive, right).

These blogs are on fashion (my favorite is their red carpet commentary), reality TV (although I only read the posts on Project Runway, I’m a fan) and television shows (they covered Lost, V, Mad Men, Glee, you name it).

What I love is that they’re incredibly sharp, open-minded and witty! They usually make me laugh at least once a day. If I haven’t read their blog for a couple of days, I’ll make a cup of tea, sit down and just read all the blogs they posted (and with their high output rate, that usually has me settled for an hour).

They have thousands of readers and get hundreds of comments on every post. I know I write in a very different genre than they do, but I truly admire them as bloggers. I think they’re a great example of “how to do it”.

Sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t be wasting my time with superficial stuff like red carpet commentary. But it’s so much fun to just look at a dress of some lame celebrity and say “OH MY GOD YOU LOOK HORRIBLE” with the appropriate facial expression. It’s just a way of letting off steam! That’s what makes it my guilty pleasure.

So tell me, because I’m curious, how do you let off steam? What is your guilty pleasure?

And now, it’s time for another blog mashup!

Hi Manon! I have plenty of similar pleasures, but I don’t feel guilty about most. I guess the only one that I don’t like to confess often is my fondness for internet celeb sites — just the funny ones like The Superficial and I Don’t Like You In That Way. Really, I don’t know why I like them so much.

And I’m totally with you on Project Runway. I’m such a huge fan! That show is one of two that I watch regularly. I don’t really watch a lot of TV otherwise.

    Make it work!

      Thanks for stopping by :D
I hadn’t heard of those two sites you mentioned before. I might just check them out O:)

Project runway o/ How wonderful to meet another fan. Trust me, you’ll love the Tom and Lorenzo site :D

Guilty pleasures, at the moment, besides some of my junk food, (And all that time on twitter!) I don’t think I’ve got one. I kind of enjoy all my pleasures, including my supposed-to-be-weekly RPG group.

I no longer see Twitter as a guilty pleasure, lol. Thanks for sharing :D

Ah, guilty pleasures! There are three that come to mind but none relate to the net…they are things I love to do to let my mind regenerate. I love watching the Borgias (and the Tudors before that), Deadliest Catch (cause crab fishing is awesome) and playing Total War: Napoleon (love the era and what guy doesn’t want to be a world conqueror on occasion).

I really don’t get much time to do any of these, but when I do it is the equivalent of good chocolate for my mind and soul.

Thanks for a fun post Manon!

The Borgias – is it really as awesome as they say?

Thanks for stopping by, Gene :D

I always love to workout. Yes, that may sound silly, but after an hour of time at the gym I feel renewed and ready to tackle any scene that was once given me a hard time. Other than that I am addicted to the History Channel. You can learn so much from that channel and I’ve found myself watching it to unwind but them I use something that I learned in my writing! Guilty pleasures can really help your writing!

Ah, I wish we had a history channel here… We just have the regular Discovery where nowadays they only show “the biggest machine” and “monster factories” or whatever. Not exactly inspiring :p. I’m a Nat Geo fan :p.

      Thanks for sharing, Natalie! ^_^

I’m a Time Traveler! Greetings, sentient beings of what you call “the year 2011″!

Hmm . . the only guilty pleasure I have is sleeping in, and that’s only because I stay up late. Oh yeah, and getting my drink on, occasionally. And flipping through clothes catalogs. I’d better stop before I think of another.

So the horror genre is considered part of the supernatural genre in 2011? Interesting. I shall report this information back to my Trans-bot Overlords.

    I leave in peace!

    Viva The Monkees!

Oh staying up late is definitely one of my guilty pleasures, too, but I’ve been good lately! No later than 1am. Otherwise I’ll ruin my new rhythm (I wake up at 825, just before the alarm goes off, which is a GOOD sign :p).

You know, I hadn’t even noticed Horror isn’t even on there as a seperate genre. I’m sort of surprised they put it with Fantasy, whereas I would put it with Thriller, if I’d had to choose :p

Hi Manon. I have two, but only one of them actually generates any guilt. The first happens in the hair salon. I’m . . . mature . . . so I get highlights. I know I could be reading some bestseller to improve my writing during this time, but instead, I have my hairdresser bring me the trashiest celebrity magazine they have, and they have some trashy ones. The other pleasure actually does make me feel a tad bit guilty. Once a week or so, I will get online with my writing partner, Holmes, and we will play an online questing game together for a while. Oddly enough, that actually helps me stay centered and face the rest of the day in reality. Thanks for your post.

Hi Piper, thanks for stopping by :D

The hair dresser is the BEST place for trashy celebrity magazines. I think it’s such a brainless place you just can’t make yourself do something :p.

What’s this online questing game you speak of? *curious*
      :)
