New Initiative: Weird Phenomenon Flash Fiction Challenges

Hey all!

If you read last Tuesday’s Weird Phenomenon post you might have seen my musings about making them flash fiction challenges.

Well, since some people indicated they were interested, I decided why the hell not. So, from now on, I will challenge you, on Tuesdays, to write a Flash Fiction story (I will indicate the amount of words, although I will never expect more than a 1000 words).

The boon? I will repost the flash fiction story I like best on this blog. I want to do something to support my fellow writers :D

I get quite a few visitors a day, not as much as the big ‘uns out there, but… Well let me show some stats: April 10-May 10 I got 3801 visitors and 5,650 pageviews. That’s a daily average of 127 visitors and 182 pageviews.

Lately though, it’s been these stats have been inclining big time; May 1 – May 10: 1966 visitors, 2916 pageviews. That’s a daily average of 196 visitors and 292 pageviews – which means that, statistically, at the end of May I will have had 6076 visitors and 9052 pageviews.

I’m sure that’s still not as much as the big ‘uns get, but I’m sure it accounts to something! Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that your story wouldn’t be lost in the dark deep waters of the web, it would actually be read :p.

If you decide to participate on the Weird Phenomenon challenges, post it on your blog and share the link in the Weird Phenomenon post before Sunday (that means you have at least 4 whole days to write). If you don’t have a blog, feel free to email your flash to me at manoneileen (at) gmail.com!

Feel free to participate in this week’s Weird Phenomenon challenge! Please share your work before Sunday! :) Then, I’ll try to read all the stories on Sunday and share the one I like best on Monday!

Good luck and looking forward to reading your work!

(In the meantime… If you get bored or need inspiration… Read my recently published short story PERCEPTION: it’s available now at Amazon and Smashwords, or participate in the Giveaway!)

This video almost gives me shivers — not because it’s unexplained, but because no matter what they are, they’re beautiful.

And that is more the direction the prompt ended up spiraling in in my head, but nonetheless, here! http://hippielibrarian.wordpress.com/2011/05/14/flash-fiction-supernova/

    Thank you for this. :)

Thank you @twitter-42650959:disqus and @98901614ca1b5d3a3cd772be4e3d8f4d:disqus :D I have read both your stories and liked them both very much, so it’s going to be a tough choice deciding which one to post. You’ll see tomorrow, I guess! :O

@CMStewart:twitter You have a good point… I’ll try to like different stuff every week XD
