Blog Mashup, Everything Else

The last half-year of uni is eating me alive :< Got an exam Wednesday, please keep your fingers crossed for me! I’ve had very little time to study, which sucks, but I hope I’ll be okay. I handed in the paper for the course last Tuesday, which was a relief. Also, we handed in our second draft of the introduction to our thesis last week, which was approved of which made it our final draft, too! That sure felt good. However, work just continues to present itself – we’re now working on the methods section and it’s proving to be really tough. Lots of decisions need to be made.

As for Derby, I got real derby skates last week! Really happy with them, tried them out on a asphalt walking trail last Saturday and they felt like pure bliss on my feet (okay a slight exaggeration but compared to the other skates – hot damn!) Wednesday is my next training so we’ll see how they fare, then.

Tim and I went to see the Swan Lake Saturday evening. I gave him tickets to the show for his birthday [in April]. The Dutch national ballet danced and they were amazing! We’d only seen the Nutcracker before (also national ballet), but the Swan Lake is something else – I do understand why it’s so insanely popular. I loved it and now I really want to see it again ^_^. This also leads me to this week’s bit of music, enjoy:

I wish all the school stuff was over :< Man, I haven’t been able to focus on writing (or my blog) since this term started. I hate it. Luckily I’ll have a half-year break from February. Can’t wait.

Yep, its all about the boots.  My wife figure skates (ice) to unwind from life as an elementary school music teacher.  We figured out the secret of the boots maybe fifteen years ago, and though it can be expensive every once and again (they do eventually start breaking down too much to be useful for what she needs; I’d imagine roller derby would be equally stressful on the material), a decent pair of semi-custom fitted skate boots can make everything better, even possibly working on your thesis ;-p

Now if I could justify something better than $50 Wayne Gretzky specials or broken down rental nags, maybe I could actually figure out how to skate in the first place …

      Hey Todd!

Honestly, I hadn’t realized before how critical well fitting boots are. My feet were absolutely busted after every training. These feel much better :) And yeah, boots do need replacement every one or few years, especially if you use them a lot. And with Derby you use them even more intensive, since you grind over the floor a lot.

It’s a great way to unwind indeed!

I wish my guy would even want to consider learning how to!
      :D Thanks for stopping by!

Well, that flying over the ice thing isn’t too hard, and really exciting, so no problem on that motivation.  Bad boots have so far made it impossible for me to figure out how to stop without smashing into something, which kinda counteracts the fun.  Turns out I’m allergic to large doses of kinetic energy … makes me break out all purple and yellow ;-p
