Discovering Spontaneous Human Combustion

Spontaneous Human Combustion is something I’ve truly wondered about in the past: is it real or not real? And if it’s real, why or how does it happen? The following video shows some cases: Basically, spontaneous human combustion means the “burning of a living human body without an apparent external source of ignition”. Worldwide, 200 cases have been reported over a 300 years. Explanations are often paranormal of nature (for instance, the combustion was caused by a ghost or was a form of divine intervention), or natural based on an unknown or unobserved phenomenon (i.e. raised levels of blood alcohol would cause the ignition). Another view is that the ignition was caused by the victim itself, for instance by dropping a cigarette. Objections...

Discovering the Mystery of the Clapham Wood

Remember the 1999 movie The Blair Witch Project? Made to look like a sort of documentary, it was fake nonetheless. However, I found a mystery that reminds me a lot of the woods in The Blair Witch Project: The Clapham Wood. It is located on the outskirts of Clapham, a small town in the center of the UK, with a population of only 300 people. The following video is a short documentary on the Clapham Wood. There’s a part two if you’re interested, but basically, all you need to know is in this first video. I personally love forest mysteries. I think forests are special and spiritual to begin with. Although The Blair Witch Project freaked me out (I’m not a horror person), I’ve seen it multiple times. I’ve read books where woods played a...

Discovering The Mothman: Prophecy or Nonsense?

The Mothman is the name given to a strange creature reported in the Charleston and Point Pleasant areas of West Virginia between November 1966 and December 1967. The creature was sporadically reported to be seen before and after those dates, with some sightings as recent as 2007. The Mothman was first spotted in 1926 by a boy. At the same time, three men were digging a grave in a nearby graveyard when they saw a brown human shape with wings soaring out from behind trees. Both incidents were reported independently of each other. There have been many sightings of Mothman though no photographic evidence exists at all. Most observers describe the Mothman as a winged man-sized creature with large reflective red eyes. It often appeared to have no head, with its eyes set...

Discovering The Lost Colony: Cannibalized or Lost at Sea?

In 1584, Sir Walter Raleigh was given permission by Queen Elizabeth I to colonize Virginia. He dispatched an expedition to the East Coast of North America. Between 1585 and 1587, two groups of colonists were left on Roanoke Island to establish the settlement. Sir Raleigh returned from the trip with two American Indians and samples of animals and plants. After fights with local tribes, the first colony was low on food and men to defend the settlement. When Sir Francis Drake visited after a raid in the Caribbean, he offered to take the people of the settlement back to England. They accepted and left. In 1587, 150 new colonists arrived and found the local natives (the Croatans) to be friendly. The group tried to befriend some of the other tribes that the previous...

Discovering Bimini Road: Atlantis or the Sea’s Current?

Bimini Road: a collection of stones in the shape of a pathway near the Bimini Island in the Bahamas that looks man-made. Some people believe that this is part of the Sunken City – Atlantis. Others believe that this is a sort of magical, ancient pathway and that powerful crystals are buried deep beneath the earth there, which could the reason the Bermuda Triangle is so hard to navigate. Watch this video! What do you think? Are the stones remains of Atlantis? Or is it simply a natural collection of stones that were moved by the sea’s current that has made it look man-made? To me, it looks like a hell of a spot to vacation to! The diving must be...

Weird Phenomenon: The Piri Reis Map

The Piri Reis Map is a famous pre-modern world map created by 16th century Ottoman-Turkish admiral and cartographer Piri Reis.  On the map, you can see part of the western coasts of Europe and North Africa with considerable accuracy. The coast of Brazil is also relatively accurately displayed. Numerous Atlantic islands, including the Azores and the Canary Islands, are depicted, as well as the mythical island of Antillia. The map is also known for the depiction of a southern landmass that looks a lot like Antarctica – which is evidence for early awareness of the continent. Some scholars claim this and other maps support a theory of global exploration by a pre-classical undiscovered civilization. Others say that the map is merely a copy of a Columbus’...
