I’m in the Grip of a Hurricane

Sunday again – already. Thursday morning I leave for Gran Canaria, but it still feels like it’s ages away. However, if I consider how fast time flew last week, Thursday will be here before I know it. I’m sorry I haven’t been posting as many blogs as I should have this week, but at least I have a good excuse! Clearly, the studying and writing for uni kept me highly distracted, but I also attended a wedding this weekend. I still have *one* more assignment to hand in and I’m not motivated to work on it at all. Last Friday my boyfriend’s cousin married, and it was quite wonderful. It was the first wedding I had attended that I’ll actually remember. The dress was beautiful and while before I didn’t really feel the need to...

Presenting… Fear of speaking for an audience!

Gosh, has this been an insane week. I’m glad I announced I’d be a bit less active than normal… But I hadn’t intended not to blog at all. But university school work was NUTS. I handed in one of the assignments a day early (because I wouldn’t have the time anymore that day and the day after), then I did a presentation which was in need of a lot of preparation… In case you’re interested, it was on how “the neo-liberal state influences citizens to take responsibility in their own safety, and how this has lead to the privatization and commoditization of security”. It went okay, although it could have gone better. I think I did well even if I got quite nervous. My hards tend to tremble quite badly when I have to talk...

Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon

I love Sundays. It’s the only day of the week where it isn’t busy in the city. Love it. This week was really calm compared to last week. I worked on an assignment that’s due for tomorrow all week, spending many hours at the University. I’m really glad with what we produced, though! Thursday is our verbal exam about it, where we’ll have to discuss and defend our findings to the teacher’s criticism. Today I’m going to practice guiding an intelligence test, which is fairly interesting. Everyone in our class got this huge box with all sorts of tests. It’s bright blue and when I took it home (I don’t have a driving license so I take public transport) people were eying me, and I bet they thought I had a bomb with...

Writer’s Tool Review: Write or DIE

Writer’s Tool Review: Write or DIE

Before I say anything… I have to admit I already loved this program before I started using it, all because of its name. Write or Die is a little program that will make sure you keep writing, and don’t get distracted. And this is handy for any kind of writing. If you have a crazy assignment you have to hand in in two hours, this is THE tool to keep you focused. The online version The online version of Write or Die offers you a few options.  You can select a word goal and/or a time goal, four “consequencences” modes (gentle, normal, kamikaze or electric shock) and three Grace Periods (forgiving, strict, evil). After having made your selection and clicked “WRITE!” you will be sent to a blank browser page in which you can write...
